Today we were celebrating the first harvest of corn from Tommy's fields, so corn was the first item up on the menu after getting the beers passed out, the tents up and the fires lit. While normally probably would have gone in the other order that's the way they insisted on today, Beers first lol.
Me talking on one of the members about his many trips about the world while he was still working in the Auto industry.
A few more of the members. And now an explanation on how things are different here. So in the for ground you have your typical gasoline fed coleman cooking grill and in the background is a typical charcoal fed hibachi grill right. Nothing odd there, but it's the food where it changes is up, and becomes awesome! In the US we normally have our staple, a huge slab of meat so one sitting and done. Here it was eating and drinking all afternoon. Starting with the corn and then moving to chicken wings, crawfish, different cuts of beef, pork chicken and of course veggies too, green peppers, mushrooms onion you name it. It was a non-stop buffet of hot food all around and great conversation in both english and japanese. And so how it worked was you got a bowl, put some sauce in it and then anything you wanted to try just grab it and go. The hibachi was used for cooking and then the coleman as a heating table, though most food didn't sit around long enough to make it to the heating table haha.
Before finally calling the day to an end, 5hrs later, there was one last plate made. Yakisoba! it was sooo good, the noodles tasted great, soaking up all the flavor on the grill it was an awesome way to end the meal before taking one last photo to commemorate the day.
Oh yeah, and saw this sweet ride on the way home from the BBQ... Was really cool as you normally don't see too many old whips on the streets here. Not the year Crown I wanna get but a sweet looking Crown none the less.
