ダンボの旅: Yokohama Pt. II

The rest of the week consisted trying to explore all that Yokohama had to offer. And for some reason ended up eating sushi most evenings, but at different establishments throughout the city haha.

Tuesday started off with a trip back to the Station to check out this place (^o^)

I don't think this car needs any introductions.... Man one day... one day....

On the other hand this one might. This wild green little thing is Datsun's come back into the world. Coming back once again as an affordable and reliable Nissan offshoot Datsun will mainly be marketed to upcoming markets.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, the current Skyline. They really do get the best cars over here.

Now just South of Yokohama there's a small classic town called Kamakura. My old Coordinator recommended the little side trip and I'm really glad I went. Regarded as the Kyoto of the East Kamakura was a very cool place to explore with many old shrines, temples and plenty of hiking it made for a great way to spend a beautiful Tuesday.

Japan also like to make things cute, like this safety warning.

The Great Buddha at Kamakura

After walking who knows how many miles through out the hills and straight across the town I decided to ride this little tram back to the JR station. This thing was packed with many other tired looking folks on vacation. But the best was yet to come, halfway through the ride everyone woke straight up the screeching of brakes and smell of hot brake shoes entered the cabin. While most kept their balance on guy did that weird falling run thing straight into the other car before catching his balance.

Some one had hit the Emergency button, and after assessing that the crossing was indeed clear we were back up n running. These things are most crossings inside city limits and, as we all found out... They work! Def wouldn't fly in the US, too many people would be hitting them all the time for fun.

Wednesday was a lazy rainy day to say the least. Given how beautiful the day before was didn't mind. Since it was "meh" outside didn't feel guilty shopping.

Of course none of the major stores open until 10ish so went out for a little walk.

After about another hour of exploring I finally made my way back to the port and checked out the Red Brick Warehouses. Originally the Custom Houses back in the day, the RBW is now a large shopping center much like the Piano Factory back home used to be. Full of cool little shops here and there with the original wooden floors and firedoors you can still feel the history while browsing about all the cool little shops.

And a few more photos from Kamakura and the Nissan Gallery
